Although we both lived nearby each other in many places for years, we never met until early adulthood.
College sweethearts<3
We met in August 2001, both as Freshmen at our college dorm on the second day of college orientation weekend. Gina was moved into a new dorm building as the room she was originally assigned to wasn't ready. In this building, Rafi's dorm room was across the hall from her new room.
Rafi (many people do not remember that his full name is Rafael) recently turned 22, just came back to the states from living in Israel for many years and completed his time in the Israeli Air Force.
Gina, 18, just graduated from high school and was looking forward to her first time living away from home.

Gina still says, when Rafi first came into her dorm, she knew "there was something about him I just had to get to know".
We quickly became friends and spent a lot of time together, along with our mutual friends. Going out to dinners together, going to parties, having our own , or just nights in what Gina called "the guys room" talking, laughing, and cooking together.
Although we both liked each other, and both told our friends that we did, we weren't aware of it until we started dating, 3 years after we met. Gina even told her roommate that she pictured herself marrying him oneday but had never felt that way about anyone before... little did she know how true that would be.
Our first date was at at local fair where we walked around for hours talking and playing games. We then went over to a nearby ice cream palor where we had sat on picnic tables while eating ice cream and watching the fireworks from the fair. It was a first date both of us remember fondly!
After that day, time has quickly flown by.
It's been over 6 years since then, and now, almost 10 years to the day since we first met, we're getting married!
